New Delhi: The Indian cricket team, after having complete dominance in the first innings of the game, flattered down in the second innings as the visitors registered an impressive win in the first test match of the Arthur de Mellow series to go 1-0 up in the series.
India, who was heavily favoured to win the game with their strong spin department, was given the taste of their own medicine. They lost all their wickets in the game to the opposing spinners and were forced to surrender the match.
Joe Root in the first innings with four wickets and Tom Hartley in the second innings with seven wickets broke the back of the Indian batting line-up in the match.

However, Ollie Pope, with his 196 runs inning in the second innings of the English team, was the real match changer, as it saw the visitors fend off the huge 190 runs first innings deficit and get themselves 230 runs lead, which was more than enough for them to kill off the host’s chances to take a series lead in the series.
