Raghav Chadha, an AAP MP, has been suspended from Rajya Sabha due to his “gross violation of rule, misconduct, defiant attitude, and contemptuous conduct.”
This suspension is pending a report from the privileges committee.
The suspension of Chadha came after a motion was presented by Piyush Goyal, the Leader of the House.
Goyal sought action against Chadha for including the names of certain members of the Upper House in a proposed select committee for the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, without their consent.
The motion to suspend Chadha was passed through a voice vote.
The period of suspension of Sanjay Singh, another AAP MP, was also extended till the privilege committee decides on complaints against him.
