This evening, the Government of India announced the 2024 Padma Awards. The government declared Padma Vibhushan for Megastar Chiranjeevi, the matinee idol of Tollywood. Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award in India after Bharata Ratna. Chiranjeevi is chosen for this award for his exceptional service to art and society.

Chiranjeevi is the second Tollywood actor after Akkineni Nageswar Rao and the seventh actor in India to be honored with this prestigious award. Chiranjeevi was bestowed with Padma Bhushan in 2006. Chiranjeevi isn’t just a film star but he is a great philanthropist. The actor’s services to society through his blood bank made him a demigod among the audience.

Even during COVID-19, Chiru helped a lot of cine workers and arranged oxygen cylinders for many in need. Chiranjeevi inspired many actors and directors that anything can be achieved if there is talent and determination. Hailing from a non-film background, Chiranjeevi reached great heights in Tollywood and ruled the industry unanimously for over three decades.
