The Central Intelligence Agency of Haryana Police apprehended an individual connected to the Nuh violence on Thursday (10 August), following his injury in a confrontation with the state police. The encounter unfolded in Taavdu, situated 16 kilometers away from Nuh.
Authorities received intelligence that two individuals from Rajasthan, implicated in the communal clashes that erupted in Haryana’s Nuh on 31 July, were en route to Taavdu.
Upon their interception by the police in Taavdu, the suspects, identified as Munsead and Saikul, opened fire at the law enforcement officers.
In response, the police returned fire, resulting in Saikul sustaining a gunshot wound to his leg, while the other one was arrested without any injury.
Saikul was swiftly transported to the hospital for medical treatment and subsequently taken into custody. Jagran reported that Taavdu’s crime branch in-charge Sandeep Mor’s bullet hit Saikul.
Prior to this, the STF, engaged in locating the accused, apprehended nine individuals using a drone in the hilly terrain on Wednesday morning. All of them are residents of Nalhad and Mevli villages. Criminals are known to hide in the Aravalli hills near the village.
After questioning and obtaining evidence, their arrests will be carried out. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, eight of the suspected individuals taken into custody were arrested.
So far, a total of 189 people have been apprehended. Over four hundred Muslim youths from Nalhad and nearby villages had fired shots and hurled stones at devotees inside the Nalhad Temple.
The STF and the Crime Branch are facing challenges because criminals use several secret routes in the hilly area. Initially, precise locations were searched using drones, and then the suspects were apprehended after reaching the hills.
The violence has killed six people including two home guards and four civilians. Opposition parties in Haryana have asserted that the violence in Nuh underscores the “failure” of the BJP-JJP government.
